THERAPIST, HEAL YOURSELF!
Your path to a sustainable and balanced work life and experience self-awareness and healing with Compassionate Inquiry.
We have worked closely with social workers, training both experienced and aspiring practitioners. Over the years, we have witnessed how different methods and theories have come and gone. But one thing has always proved crucial - how well have our own wounds healed? With many years of experience working in social services, care and treatment, we offer you a workshop based on Dr. Gabor Maté's Compassionate Inquriy.
Explore your inner self
In our workshop you will learn to meet and understand yourself in depth. We help you identify and work with the unconscious patterns and reactions that affect you.
Practical tools
By using body-based methods to deal with stress and ill health, the workshop will give you self-awareness and the ability to treat others with compassion and curiosity.
Let us guide you towards sustainability and healing!
Practitioners, heal thyself!
Konciensia has many years of experience working in social services, care and treatment. We have worked closely with clients, been first line managers and managers of managers. We have supervised and trained experienced therapists and social workers and we have also trained future therapists.
We have seen methods, theories and knowledge come and go. But one factor is crucial - how well the practitioner and social worker have healed their own wounds. Our experience tells us that there is a long and humbling road ahead.
Our offer
We give you a workshop that brings together our experience, knowledge and, based on Dr. Gabor Maté's psychotherapeutic approach Compassionate Inquiry, will show you the way towards sustainability and healing. Where we both broaden, deepen and bring together your previous knowledge and experience with an approach that promotes sustainability and development.
A workshop where we bring body and mind together in an effort to meet, understand and change the function of the behaviors that create ill health for you and breakdown for your client.
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it faith"
/Carl Jung
Then the question becomes:
What is the unconscious that emerges within you when meeting clients?
How unhealed wounds come up in everyday life?
Every time you are somehow triggered by a client and adjust your behavior is an opportunity to face that issue, fully. By fully, we mean with body and mind - with nervous system and brain.
Therefore, what does the behavior do for me is the first question you need to ask yourself.
During this workshop we will dive deep into how we can meet and understand ourselves with inner wonder and compassion.
Methods, models and approaches?
Whatever methods you use in your business today, this workshop is highly relevant and useful for you.
The workshop focuses on the human factor, the one that comes before and after your way of working. The implicit that guides you in the meeting with clients is the body's reaction to the event in the moment.
Governed by how the nervous system has learned and adapted throughout life and how our brain interprets the body's signals and creates an internal story about ourselves and the world around us based on that internal reaction.
Life creates patterns within us
and we follow the pattern until we safely break new ground within us.
Sustainable (working) life?
The primary reasons for stress and ill health in the workplace are that we are in a toxic culture and we don't understand what our nervous system, the body, is trying to tell us.
In this workshop we teach you to listen inward and at the same time face what is outside you with compassion and curiosity.
We all depend on and influence each other, not least through neuroception. In short, we cannot think our way to a changed and more sustainable state without understanding and having the tools to face what is happening within us. Nor can we skip over parts of the truth in the belief that it will be forgotten and hidden.
Sustainability is only achieved when we meet the whole. When we make the unconscious conscious and unite body and mind.
Costly!
We have hired and also terminated many employees over the years. We have kept statistics, done surveys, measured KASAM, OSA, etc. but none of these interventions have really healed the system or the individuals within the system.
We have bought in guidance, training and introduced new methods but none of these interventions have really worked.
We have tried to explain, make procedures and follow quality and management systems, but even that has not taken us all the way.
Hiring a new employee is great - terminating an employee is not. Of course, it can be a relief when we terminate an employee who hasn't worked out, even nice to put the blame outside ourselves. The cost is always greater than the gain.
Course content
During the workshop, you will experience yourself from a broader and deeper perspective than you have done before.
Theory will be interspersed with practical exercises, group processes and the opportunity to look inward in a way where you understand yourself, your clients from a non-pathologizing way.
You will gain knowledge and experience about:
- The relationship between what you experience inside you and the environment.
- The relationship between the environment and your inner experience.
- How can we respond to and understand ourselves with Polyvagal theory?
- No bad parts - an IFS perspective on our behaviors and an encounter with your own inner parts. What happens when we no longer see parts of us as defective or wrong but actually meet and understand them without judgment?
- What can body-based practices do for stress, ill health and unregulated thoughts, feelings and behaviors and in practice actually heal us!
- A shift of focus - the question is not why we have behaviors - the question is what the behaviors do for us! A Compassionate inquiry perspective on your thoughts, experiences, feelings and behaviors as well as an encounter with how our inner wounds manifest and emerge within us - and how we can take care of ourselves.
Target group
The workshop is aimed at those working in social services, health, care or treatment. This means that it is suitable for therapists and professionals in the treatment and care professions.
The workshop will give you a greater self-awareness and understanding of how your unconscious shows up in the present and governs your everyday life and, above all, a broader, deeper and compassionate perspective on how we best heal and take care of ourselves.
The workshop is valuable for those organizations and individuals who want to understand themselves and their clients better and gain practical cognitive and somatic tools for how we can best meet ourselves for a sustainable (work) life.
